Messages & follow-ups

LinkedIn message automation with follow-ups that know when to stop

Send the first message the moment a lead accepts, follow up based on whether they replied or even read it, attach files, voice notes or a personal video, and stop every remaining step the second they answer, on LinkedIn or any other channel.

Overview

Follow-ups win deals, bad follow-ups lose them

Most replies on LinkedIn come after the first message, not from it. But a follow-up that ignores what happened (“just bumping this!” to someone who already replied by email) costs more than it earns. Good LinkedIn message automation reacts to what the lead did.

In ReachPods, every message is a step in a visual flow. The first one can wait for the connection to be accepted, follow-ups can wait on replied? or message seen? with the window you choose, and each branch can say something different. A lead who read your message and didn’t answer gets a short nudge; one who never opened it gets a new angle.

Each step re-checks the lead’s status right before it sends. If a reply arrived a second earlier, on LinkedIn, email, WhatsApp, Instagram or Telegram, the follow-up is never sent. Replies land in the unified inbox, where a human takes over.

After acceptance

Automatically message new LinkedIn connections from the right account

Put a invitation accepted? condition before your first message and the message goes out as soon as LinkedIn reports the new connection, from the account the lead accepted. Connection state is tracked per sender, so with several LinkedIn accounts the conversation never splits.

Already connected? A profile visit detects first-degree connections, so you can message existing contacts without sending an invitation at all.

  • Triggered by real acceptances
  • Sent from the connected account
  • Works for existing connections too

Smart follow-ups

LinkedIn follow-up automation that branches on replies and read receipts

Follow-ups wait on conditions instead of fixed timers. Replied within 3 days? moves on the moment a reply arrives. Message seen? uses LinkedIn’s read receipts to tell apart people who read and ignored you from people who never opened the conversation.

Waiting conditions are woken by real events, not polled once a day, and waits are measured on the campaign’s own clock. Pause a campaign and every lead’s clock pauses with it.

  • Replied? and message seen? conditions
  • Waiting windows you choose
  • Event-driven, not polled
  • Clocks pause with the campaign

Rich messages

Attach files, voice notes and personal videos to LinkedIn messages

Message steps accept attachments: a one-page case study, a PDF proposal, an image. They also accept a voice note, either a recording you upload or an AI voice note in your cloned voice that says each lead’s name.

LinkedIn message steps can go one step further with an AI video: your avatar, speaking your script, addressed to that lead. Or attach a regular video you recorded yourself.

  • File attachments
  • Uploaded or AI voice notes
  • Per-lead avatar video
  • Variables in every script

Stop on reply

A reply stops the sequence, even mid-step

Replies arrive from the providers as webhooks within seconds. The moment one is received, the lead is marked replied and every remaining step is cancelled, on every channel.

There is no race condition: every action re-checks the lead’s status right before it is sent, so even a follow-up being prepared at the exact second the reply arrived is never sent.

  • Webhook-driven, near real time
  • Cancels steps on every channel
  • Re-checked right before each send

A/B testing

A/B test LinkedIn messages and keep the opener that gets replies

Add variants to any message step and leads are split between them. Analytics shows, per variant, how many messages were sent and how many leads then replied, so the “which opener works” debate ends with data.

Combine variants with spintax and AI variables to keep every message unique while you test the structure.

  • Multiple variants per step
  • Sent and replied per variant
  • Works with spintax and AI

How it works

LinkedIn message automation: how it works in four steps

  1. 1

    Start after acceptance

Place an “invitation accepted?” condition, then your first message.

  2. 2

    Add follow-ups

Wait on “replied?” or “message seen?”, and write a different follow-up for each branch.

  3. 3

    Enrich the message

Attach a file, a voice note or a personal video, and add an A/B variant.

  4. 4

    Let replies take over

Any reply stops the sequence and lands in the unified inbox.

Who it’s for

LinkedIn message automation: who it’s for

SDR teams

Run a three-touch LinkedIn follow-up sequence per persona, A/B test the opener and hand replies to AEs from one inbox.

Consultants and coaches

Send a short voice note as the second touch. It feels personal, and it’s the same script for everyone.

Recruiters

Message new connections about a role immediately after they accept, and follow up only if they’ve seen it.

FAQ

LinkedIn message automation: questions and answers

Something else on your mind? Get started and try it on your own accounts.

Can I automatically message people after they accept my connection request?

Yes. Put an “invitation accepted?” condition before your message; it’s sent as soon as the acceptance is detected, from the same account.

How many LinkedIn messages can I send per day?

The default is 60 messages per account per day, with random gaps between actions and working hours. You can adjust it per account.

Will follow-ups stop if someone replies on email?

Yes. A reply on any channel stops the lead’s sequence on every channel.

Can I see if my LinkedIn message was read?

Yes. Read receipts appear in the inbox and the “message seen?” condition can use them in your flow.

Can I send voice notes on LinkedIn automatically?

Yes. Attach a recording, or use an AI voice note generated in your cloned voice for each lead.

Can I message my existing connections?

Yes. Import them, and the flow can message first-degree connections without sending an invitation.
